Oberlin College Athletics

Club Sports Report 9/12/16

The Oberlin College Tumbling Club has had an absolutely smashing start to the year, with tons of new rookies coming out to try all aspects of our tumbling - tricking, parkour, and gymnastics. Some even had experience already! On an even more exciting note, we are already organizing our first workshop for the weekend of October 1. We're bringing in an Oberlin alum and master tricker to inspire and teach us new ways and possibilities for moving our bodies. And, as always, Tumbling Club is open to all people, of all body shapes, and of all experience levels. Bring your friends, bring your enemies, bring your parents, and come check us out.

The dressage team is looking forward to a busier competition schedule this year. We have four new members in addition to our four returners, and are gearing up to begin practice. Our first competition will be the weekend of October 29 and 30 at Otterbein University.

The Equestrian Team is having a great start to the year!. We have a lot of new members, including freshmen and upperclassmen. Our first Western show is coming up on September 24 and we've been practicing hard in preparation. We are looking forward to the season.

The SHOTS - Oberlin Club Tennis Team is off to a fantastic start. We have met twice and are already reaping the benefits of hard practice. The group is a fairly large size with great players and curious beginners alike taking to the courts every Tuesday and Thursday evening. Behind it all there is an incredible leadership team who have everyone excited for the season to begin.

A wonderful beginning to women's ultimate season. Hundreds of first-years flocked in mantis swarms to our first practice on North Quad, where they stunned the returners with their skills off the bat (or should I say "off the pull"). Even those who had never played before picked up a Frisbee and were soon flicking the disc like they'd been doing it for decades. Manti in matching merchandise caught up on summer news and whipped up their competitive spirit with a scrimmage. We can't wait for our first tournament!
