Kent, Ohio - A small group of first-year field athletes were in action on Friday night at the Kent State Golden Flash Gala.

In the unseeded section of the pole vault, Grand Folks, North Dakota, native, Grace Finney placed third with a mark of 10-08.

Classmates Naeisha McClain and Cecelia Longo also competed in the weight throw. McClain ended 14th in the 28-person field with a heave of 47-10, while Longo was 21st with a mark of 43-00.25.
