Heisman Club Announces 2013 Hall of Fame Class

Oberlin, Ohio – The Heisman Club of Oberlin College officially announced it will induct five new members into its hall of fame on Friday, October 4, as part of the athletic department's Homecoming Weekend. The ceremony will take place at the Oberlin Inn starting at 6 p.m.
 
The inductees are Robert D. Ebel '51, Jonathan M. Greer' 79, Harsha Thirumurthy '98, Nzinga Broussard '02, and Pamela Walker '02.
 
Robert D. Ebel – Class of 1951 – Football and Baseball
A two-sport standout, Robert D. Ebel was a four-year letter winner in football and three-time lettermen in baseball. As captain of the 1950 football team, he led the Yeomen to a 7-1 record, which still remains as the best record in the last 63 years of the program. In that same season he earned Ohio Athletic Conference honors and was named as an All-American. For the baseball team, Ebel served as a pitcher for all four years.
 
Jonathan M. Greer – Class of 1979 - Swimming
Following graduation from Oberlin in 1979, Jonathan M. Greer earned a postgraduate scholarship from the NCAA, however, his time on campus was something to be remembered. As a senior he earned NCAA First-Team All-America honors in the 50-yard freestyle and was also tabbed as an Academic All-American. He was a two-time Ohio Athletic Conference Champion in the 100-yard breaststroke and had multiple top-five finishes at the conference meet. He held the school record in the 50-yard free for 14 years and his time of 21.64 still ranks fourth on the all-time list.
 
Harsha Thirumurthy – Class of 1998 – Cross Country and Track & Field
An elite distance runner, Harsha Thirumurthy was a mainstay on the Yeomen track and field and cross country teams, earning 11 total letters. He was a five-time NCAC Champion in track and field, and four-time All-NCAC runner in cross country. The 1997 NCAC Outdoor Track and Field Distance MVP, Thirumurthy was named to the NCAC All-Decade team in 2004. Still an active runner, he has competed in seven marathons over the last five years.
 
Nzinga Broussard – Class of 2002 – Basketball and Track & Field
One of the greatest female athletes in school history, Nzinga Broussard is the all-time leading scorer in women's basketball history with 1,693 points. A four-time All-NCAC First-Team selection, she holds conference records for most steals in a game (13), steals in a season (129/2001-02) and steals in a career (404). An NCAC All-Decade Team selection in 2004, Broussard was also a five-time conference champion in track and field. The 1999 Outdoor Track Sprints MVP, she still holds the school record in the 200 meters indoors with a mark of 25.92.
 
Pamela Walker – Class of 2002 – Field Hockey
Pamela Walker was an elite goalie for the Yeowomen field hockey team, earning NCAA All-America honors as a senior in 2001. In that season she led the nation with .938 save percentage, allowing just seven goals on 112 total shots. She was a four-time National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-Region selection and was named as the NCAC Defensive Player of the Year in 2001. Walker was also a four-time All-Academic selection by the NFHCA.
