Skillman, NJ –The Oberlin College women's tennis team was represented in singles, doubles and as a team in the final ITA National Rankings that were recently released. It is the first time in school history that Oberlin had representation in all three categories.
As a team the Yeowomen finished the 2012-13 season ranked 32nd in the country after finishing the year with a record of 17-8. Senior
Farah Leclercq, who was 21-8 on the season, checked in as the nation's 27th ranked player, while she and doubles partner
Grace Porter ranked 25th.
"While we were slightly disappointed that Farah just missed out on receiving All-America status, I was still happy that we had strong representation across the board," Head Coach
Constantine Ananiadis said. "We had a good season and a team with many talented players. For this team to do something that has never been done before is truly awesome."
Leclercq, who was named as the NCAC Player of the Year and ITA Central Region Senior of the Year, finished the season as the region's fourth rated player. Teammate
Brenna Sheldon also ranked 19th.
Oberlin checked in ninth in the region as a team, while the doubles tandem of Leclercq and Porter ranked seventh.
The Yeowomen will look to continue to build upon their recent success when the 2013-14 season begins this fall.
