NCAC Championships Results
Gambier, Ohio - The Oberlin College men's and women's track and field teams finished day two of the NCAC Championships strong, as the men improved to fourth place and the Yeowomen came in second just seven points out of first place.
Three Yeowomen placed in the top five of the hammer throw on Saturday, as sophomore
Tiffany Henry (144-11) took second, sophomore
Elizabeth Wilson (139-00) finished in fourth, and first-year
Larisa Lewis (134-04) came in fifth.
Wilson and sophomore Julia Skrovan took fourth and fifth in the javelin throw with distances of 107-11 and 98-09, respectively.
In the 3000-meter steeplechase, senior
Piper Nash took third with a time of 11:31.01. Senior
Marissa Clardy finished in second in the 400-meter dash, crossing at 57.79, as junior
Katrina Gelwick followed in fourth at 58.55.
The Yeowomen relay teams led the way in track events, as both squads took first. The 4x100-meter relay team of Clardy, sophomore
Margaret Miller, senior
Jasmine Owens, and junior
Sophia Brancazio took first place, crossing the finish at 48.72. The women's 4x400-meter relay squad of Gelwick, Miller, Clardy, and sophomore
Nuria Alishio-Caballero also went on to win, crossing the finish at 3:55.31.
Three Yeowomen went onto to place in the top-six of Saturday's 100-meter dash final, as Brancazio (12.80) took third, Owens (12.94) took fifth and Miller (12.97) finished in sixth. Brancazio and Miller also took third and fifth in the 200-meter dash with times of 26.25 and 26.84, respectively.
The Yeowomen long distance runners started well, as junior
Molly Martorella won the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:33.12 and sophomore
Emma Lehmann took fifth at 4:46.58.
Lehmann went onto win the 5000-meter run with a time of 17:56.26, while four Yeowomen took four other spots in the top-ten. Senior
Caroline Martin (18:12.64) came in fourth, junior
Lauren Taylor (18:15.51) in fifth, sophomore Lindsay Neal (18:19.26) in sixth, and
Sarah Jane Kerwin (18:28.13) in seventh.
After placing first in the long jump for the Yeomen on Friday, senior
Alexander Guo won the triple jump on Saturday with a distance of 47-05.25. In the high jump, sophomore
Evan Finch took fifth in the high jump after clearing a height of 6-00.
On the track, senior
Daniel Johnson took second in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:43.61, while junior
Jimmy Taylor came in third place in the 1500-meter run at 3:58.89.
Junior
Quinn Hull took third in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:56.57, while Taylor finished in sixth at 1:58.21. Sophomore
Jerry Choi placed third in the 400-meter hurdles, crossing the finish at 54.40.
Freshman
Geno Arthur and sophomore
Leo Harrington took fourth and ninth in the 5000-meter run, crossing at 15:23.10 and 15:33.62, respectively.
At the culmination of the Saturday, the Yeomen finished in fourth place with a total of 68 points, a mere six points out of third, while the Yeowomen took second and finished seven points behind conference champion Ohio Wesleyan.
