Summa Finishes Second; Men Earn a Point at NCAC Combined-Events

Delaware, Ohio – The NCAC Combined Events Championship came to an end on Sunday afternoon with the Oberlin College track and field teams combining to earn nine points towards next weekend's NCAC Championship Meet.
 
First-year Caroline Summa was simply outstanding throughout the weekend as she finished second overall in the heptathlon with 4,149 points to give the Yeowomen eight team points.
 
On Sunday the participants competed in the long jump, javelin and 800-meters.  Her best event of the day was the 800-meters where she finished second in 2:23.45. She was also fourth in the long jump at 15-09.
 
The senior pairing of Sean Dembowski and Vlad Bursuc also competed in the decathlon for the Yeomen. Dembowski earned one team point for the Yeomen by placing eighth overall with 5,388 points. Bursuc was one spot back with 4,848 points.
 
The final five events of that were contested on Sunday were the 110-meter hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin and 1,500-meter run. Dembowski won the 1,500 in 4:40.09, while Bursuc's best event of the day was the pole vault as he was third with a mark of 12-03.25.
 
All three of the athletes will be back in action next weekend at the NCAC Championship Meet.
