Skillman, NJ - The Oberlin College women's tennis has secured the program's first-ever national ranking, as the team went from unranked to No. 30 in the country in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings that were released over the weekend.

The Yeowomen also moved up to No. 6 six in the ITA Central Region, marking the highest regional ranking for the team in school history.

Individually, junior Brenna Sheldon and sophomore Grace Porter joined senior teammate Farah Leclercq amongst those who are ranked within the region. Sheldon, a native of Sebastopol, California, is ranked No. 19 as a singles player, while the doubles pairing of Porter and Leclercq is No. 4. It is the first time either player has appeared in the rankings during their respective collegiate careers. Leclercq remained within the region's top 10 in singles play at No. 8.

Sheldon, who has played almost exclusively at No. 2 this season, has won eight out of her last 10 matches in singles play. Porter and Leclercq have also captured victory in eight out of their last 10 matches at No. 1 doubles and are currently riding a five-match winning streak.

With three different players being recognized by the ITA, this is the most representation any Oberlin team has ever had on the rankings list.

Fresh off a 3-0 spring break trip, Oberlin now sits at 10-4 on the season. The team will be in action this weekend in Holland, Michigan on the campus of Hope College to take part in the ITA Central Region Shootout. The Yeowomen will square off against Albion, Kalamazoo, and Hope over the two-day period.
