Yeomen Earn First Victory of the Season

Oberlin, Ohio- The Oberlin College men's tennis team secured its first win of the year and Eric Ishida's first win as Yeomen head coach on Saturday by defeating visiting Wabash College, 5-4, in Heisman Field House.

Ben Turchin led the Yeomen by winning second singles in three sets, 3-6, 7-5, 7-5. Turchin also went on to win in first doubles with junior Charlie Marks, 8-3.

Freshman Callan Louis continued to play well by winning in third singles, 7-6 (9-7), 6-2, and second doubles with sophomore Soren Zeliger, 8-6.

Rounding out Oberlin's winners was Zeliger who won fourth singles in two sets, 6-4, 6-3.

Oberlin moves to 1-1 on the year and 1-0 in the conference after Saturday's win.

The Yeomen will continue their season on February 19 when Heidelberg University travels to Oberlin for a 6:30 p.m. nonconference match.
