Kent, Ohio – Competing in their first meet of the 2013-14 season, the Oberlin College track and field teams turned in many strong performances at the Kent State University Golden Gala over the weekend.
Larisa Lewis, who is the school record holder in both the shot put and weight throw, is looking to increase her school-best marks this year. Today her shot put toss of 36-07 was good for 12th overall. On Friday she was 22nd in the weight throw with a mark of 40-01.5.
In the 60-meter dash junior
Margaret Miller stopped the clock in 8.24 to finish 24th out of 42 runners that were mostly from NCAA Division I institutions. Miller was also 24th in the 200-meters as she touched the tape in 27.52. However, her highest finish of the day was in the 300-meters where she placed 16th in 43.63.
Senior
Katrina Gelwick was the top Division III finisher in the 400-meter dash as she was 10th overall in 1:00.97.
On the men's side, Daniel Bolotsky was 19th in the shot put with a heave of 37-07.25.
Junior Jerry Choi got going in the 60-meter dash, flying through the finish in 7.35. He also ran the 200-meters, placing 17th in 23.22. Choi remained busy by competing in the 400-meter dash, clocking in at 51.65 to place 21st.
The teams will now be off from competition until January 10, 2014 when they host the annual Dan Kinsey Invitational.
