Oberlin, Ohio – It was a special day for the Oberlin College Department of Athletics and Physical Education on Saturday, November 16, as the official groundbreaking for the Austin E. Knowlton Athletics Complex took place prior to the Yeomen's 47-13 season-ending victory over Hiram College.

Those in attendance were treated to a special pregame tailgate in the south end zone of the stadium before the official ceremony began.

The program featured speeches from Delta Lodge Director of Athletics Natalie Winkelfoos and Oberlin College President Marvin Krislov.  Robert A. Pitcairn Jr., a trustee of the Austin. E. Knowlton Foundation, also spoke at the event.

Fellow Foundation dignitaries Eric Lindberg and John C. Lindberg joined Pitcairn at the ceremony. John's sons, Alex and Charlie Lindberg, were also on hand and served as honorary captains for the game.

The Austin E. Knowlton Athletics Complex is scheduled to be completed prior to the start of the 2014-15 academic year. To read more about the project click here.
