Football Hands Out End of the Year Team Awards

Oberlin, Ohio – The Oberlin College football team handed out its year-end awards during its annual season-end banquet this past Saturday.
 
Coaches' Award for Most Inspirational
 
Drew Mixter - Drew was featured as a strong safety, running back and wide receiver in his four years at Oberlin. He tied for the lead in receiving touchdowns in 2011 with six, and rushed for one more.
 
Michael P. Dougan Yeomen Spirit Award
 
Danny Enright - Danny played in all 40 games of his Yeomen career, and was one of the best tight ends in the NCAC. He had nine career touchdowns and was All-NCAC first team as a senior.
 
Joe Gurtis Unsung Hero Award  & Lineman of the Year
 
Tyler Benson - Tyler has started 30 games over the past three seasons and has helped the offense break many records. As a freshman and sophomore he played right tackle, before making the move to center this season.
 
Kodak Scout Team Player of the Year
 
Shannon Moss - Helped give the team a good look during practice, allowing them to succeed on the field. Saw action in all 10 games this year, mainly on special teams, and will surely add depth to the secondary next year.
 
Newcomer of the Year
 
Rory Kaip - Started all 10 games for the Yeomen at offensive line and will bring back depth for the next three years. Rory will be a key part to helping get the Yeomen running game back on track.
 
Special Forces Player of the Year
 
Cory Kidd - Cory wins the award for the fourth year in a row. This year, Kidd averaged 37 yards per kick, had a long of 53, and pinned opponents inside the 20 yard line 14 different times.
 
Offensive MVP
 
Robin Witjes - Robin was a jack of all trades for the Yeomen  this year, seeing time at wide receiver, running back, and quarterback. He caught six touchdowns, threw for two more, and had a team high 980 all-purpose yards.
 
Defensive MVP
 
Clay Eaton -  Clay led the front attack for the Yeomen this year, and was one of the most dynamic pass rushers in the country. He was tops in the NCAC in sacks with 11, and added a team high 17 tackles for loss.
