Wooster, Ohio – The Oberlin College women's cross country team claimed the top three spots and had four runners in the top five en route to earning its fourth straight North Coast Athletic Conference Championship crown, scoring 25 points.

“Our team turned in yet another outstanding race from top to bottom,” Head Coach Ray Appenheimer said. “Everyone ran a smart and intelligent race, and put forth such amazing effort.”

Despite running in just one meet prior to today's championship race, junior Molly Martorella was named as the NCAC Runner of the Year, winning the race in commanding fashion with a timestamp of 22:31.2. The mark was good for a 19-second margin of victory over teammate Carey Lyons, who was second overall at 22:50.8.

Completing the Yeowomen trio at the top was sophomore Lindsay Neal as she flew through the 6k course in 23:01.6.

Sophomore sensation Emma Lehmann finished fifth in the 99-runner race as she came through the chute in 23:18.5.

Rounding out the Yeowomen placers was sophomore Sarah Jane Kerwin, who checked in at 23:59.3 to finish in 14th place.

Also competing for Oberlin was senior Caroline Martin whose mark of 24:09.1 was good for 15th place, and sophomore Erica Morelli whose timestamp of 24:15.1 placed her 17th.

All seven of the Yeowomen runners earned All-NCAC honors for their efforts today. Furthermore, two more Oberlin runners also earned All-NCAC honors by placing within in the top 21 of the race. Junior Lauren Taylor ended 19th with a time of 24.18.2, while senior Kristina Witcher ended 21st at 24:24.6. In total the nine all-conference performers is the most for any one team in the history of the North Coast Athletic Conference. In addition the 25 points scored is also the lowest total in league history, meaning this Yeowomen team is arguably the greatest team to ever compete in the NCAC.

Kenyon finished second overall with 67 points, while DePauw was third with 102 total tallies.

The Yeowmen, who are currently ranked No. 9 in the country, return to action in two weeks at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Meet in Anderson, Indiana.
