A Pair of Weekend Women's Basketball Games Highlights the Week in Oberlin Athletics

Oberlin, Ohio – This week in Oberlin Athletics, the Oberlin College women's basketball team will take to the hardwood three times as they look to make a late-season push for the NCAC Tournament. 

Men's Basketball (6-13, 1-9 NCAC)
2/1/12 - Oberlin at Allegheny (4-15, 2-8 NCAC)  - 8 p.m.
2/4/12 - Oberlin vs. Ohio Wesleyan (15-4, 7-3 NCAC) - 3 p.m.

Andrew Fox is still tops in the conference in rebounding, with 10.4 per game. He leads the second place player by almost two whole rebounds per game (8.7). He is also 13th in the conference in scoring average (13), and is the only NCAC player to average a double-double all season.
• Oberlin has beaten Allegheny two times in a row, and are looking to make it three when they travel to Meadville on Wednesday.
• Sophomore Emmanuel Lewis has moved into the sixth-man role for the Yeomen, and it appears to have paid off. He had a career high 15 points vs. Wittenberg this past weekend.
• Ohio Wesleyan's Tim Brady leads the NCAC in scoring (22.8 ppg), and will have to be contained on Saturday in order for the Yeomen to come out victorious.

Women's Basketball (5-14, 2-8 NCAC)
1/31/12 - Oberlin at Hiram (6-12, 3-7 NCAC) – 7:30 p.m.
2/3/12 – Oberlin vs. Wooster (3-14, 2-7 NCAC) – 7:30 p.m.
2/4/12 – Oberlin vs. Ohio Wesleyan (7-12, 3-7 NCAC) – 5 p.m.

• Junior Kelly Warlich comes into this week after having a career day vs. Wittenberg last weekend. She had 23 points and 10 rebounds, en route to her sixth double-double of the season.
Malisa Hoak comes into this week still atop the NCAC in assists. She is averaging 4.4 helpers per game.
• Wooster comes into the game right ahead of Oberlin in NCAC standings with two wins, and Ohio Wesleyan has three. Oberlin can jump up in the rankings if they come on top this week in two winnable games.

Track and Field
2/3/12 -  at Findlay Open

•  Sean Dembowski as he set a new school record in the heptathlon with an NCAC-best mark of 3,744 points. On the day he also had person-best marks in the pole vault (11-07.75) and 1,000-meter run (2:53.86).
•  The Yeomen and women are returning to championship form as the indoor season continues. Last week sophomore Molly Martorella ran 10:11.95 in the 3,000-meter run, which was her lifetime best and leads the NCAC by over 40 seconds. Matt Bernstein ran a personal best race in the 5k with a final time of 15:53.64.
• The track team travels welcomes back its full roster from winter term as they will once again travel to Findlay this weekend.
Amanda Gracia, Margaret Miller, Ryann McChesney and Marissa Clardy posted an NCAC-best time in the 4x400m relay with a time of 4:10.87.
• Gracia's 800-meter time of 2:22.03 is also the fastest in the NCAC this season.
