Dembowski’s School Record Highlights Day Two of Findlay Classic

Findlay, Ohio – The Oberlin College track and field teams wrapped up the non-team scored Findlay Classic with a plethora of outstanding results.

Highlighting the day for the Yeomen was junior Sean Dembowski as he set a new school record in the heptathlon with 3,744 points. On the day he also had person-best marks in the pole vault (11-07.75) and 1,000-meter run (2:53.86).

Making his season debut, senior Shawn Chrapczynski turned in strong performances in both the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes. In the shorter of the two races, he checked in at 7.25 to place 20th overall in the 56-man field. In the 200 he was 17th out 58 with a mark of 23.33.

On the women's end, Amanda Gracia finished second in the 800-meter run with a timestamp of 2:22.03. The junior was also ran the third leg of the 4x400 relay team that posted a season-best time of 4:10.87 to place fourth in the event. She was joined by Margaret Miller, Ryann McChesney and Marissa Clardy.

Running for the first time this winter, cross country All-American Molly Martorella picked up right where she left off as she flew through the 3,000 meter run with a lifetime-best time of 10:11.95.

Furthermore, Piper Nash (10:52.77), Lindsay Neal (10:54.35) and Caroline Martin (10:55.14) all qualified for the conference meet in the 3,000 as they finished fifth through seventh, respectively.

The track and field teams will head right back to Findlay next Friday night for the Findlay Open.
