Longley Resigns to Accept Position at Connecticut College

Oberlin, Ohio - Oberlin College Delta Lodge Director of Athletics and Physical Education William Roth has announced that Head Women's Lacrosse Coach Liz Longley has resigned to accept the same position at Connecticut College.

“We wish Liz well in her new role at Connecticut College,” Roth said. “Despite her brief tenure here at Oberlin, Liz helped to initiate some of the positive changes we feel will help propel our women's lacrosse team to higher heights. While disappointed that she is moving on, we are confident that our program will continue to advance and that we will quickly attract a new coaching staff that will welcome the opportunity to develop our players and passionately represent the College."

In her lone season at the helm of the program, Longley guided the Yeowomen to a 4-9 record. In addition, she mentored juniors Grace Amber, Molly Bloom and Ilyssa Meyer to All-NCAC honors in 2011.

Longley helped Amber finish fifth in the NCAC with 2.69 goals per game, while Bloom checked in 10th at 2.38. Oberlin was just one of three schools to have two players finish in the top 10 in scoring.

Under her tutelage, the Yeowomen finished third in the conference in draw controls with 13.69 per game. The team's shooting percentage of  .465 was also third best in the league.

Assistant Coach Kate Fowler will also be stepping down.

A national search for Longley's successor will begin immediately.
