Series Information ...
Oberlin trails the all-time series against the Tigers 12-18 … Saturday marks the 31st meeting between the two foes with their first meeting coming all the way back in 1894, a 12-0 Yeomen win … The Yeomen last beat the Tigers in 1951 13-6 … In their most recent matchup in 2007, the Yeomen lost to the Tigers 38-14 in Springfield, Ohio … After the Yeomen took an early 6-3 lead, the Tigers responded by putting up 21 unanswered points before the Yeomen could once again get on the scoreboard to make it a 24-14 game at the half … However, the Yeomen could not muster a second half score as the Tigers went on to score two of their own … Oberlin's offense was led by all-time leading rusher R.V. Carroll who racked up 158 all-purpose yards to go along with two scores and wide receiver Chris Schubert who had 263 all-purpose yards of his own.

Scouting the Tigers…
The Tigers come into Saturday's matchup undefeated and ranked sixth in the AFCA Division III Coaches' Poll and seventh in the D3football.com poll … Last week, the Tigers narrowly escaped with a 24-21 win at Allegheny College … Allegheny became the first team since 2008 to lead the Tigers in a regular season game after going ahead 14-10 late into the third quarter … Wittenberg is currently leading the conference in scoring offense with 52 points per game and scoring defense (12.3 points per game) … The Tigers are led on offense by junior quarterback Ben Zoeller who has thrown 12 touchdown passes this year against only one interception … His favorite target is junior wide receiver Josh McKee who has hauled in eight of Zoeller's 12 touchdown passes, including a season high five touchdowns against Washington University … Defensively, Wittenberg is led by linebackers Zach Hurtt and Brad McKinley … McKinley leads the team in tackles, while Hurtt leads the team in interceptions.

A Proven Backup …
When starting quarterback Josh Mandel went down with an injury early in the second quarter against Hiram, the offense did not skip a beat as his backup junior Joey Zebelian came in to take the reins and lead the Yeomen to their first conference win of the season … In relief of Mandel, Zebelian went 22-of-28 throwing for 323 yards and four scores … With Mandel's status uncertain for the Homecoming matchup, Zebelian will once again need to be ready to pick up where he left off last week against Hiram.

Multiple Weapons …
For the first time since 2007, the Yeomen had two 100 yard receivers in the same game in their record-setting performance against Hiram … In 2007, Chris Schubert and Andy Stein racked up 135 and 132 yards, respectively … Last week, junior tight end Danny Enright caught seven passes for 127 yards and a score, while junior wide receiver Cory Kidd, who is better known for his punting, caught six balls for 108 yards and a touchdown … The Yeomen were also finally able to get the ground game going as junior running back Drew Mixter ran for 108 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries, becoming the first Yeomen this season to eclipse the 100-yard mark.

Welcome to Plyler Island …

Sophomore defensive back #C.J. Plyler#, who missed all of last season, has returned to the Yeomen to make a huge impact on the defensive side of the ball … In three games the sophomore from Huntington, Texas has three interceptions, with two of those coming last week against Hiram … The defensive stalwart, whose three interceptions now leads the team, became the first Yeomen since 2007 to intercept two passes in one game … It will be interesting to see whether Plyler can get his hands on the ball against Ben Zoeller and the Tigers as Zoeller has only thrown one interception in four games.
