Puterbaugh & Brua Tabbed Third-Team All-Region

Oberlin, Ohio – First-Team All-NCAC selections Ben Puterbaugh and Phil Brua were named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-Mideast Region Third-Team on Monday.

Puterbaugh needed just 20 games to break the school's single-season hits record and went on to finish fourth in the NCAC in hitting with a .459 batting average – amassing 61 hits during the 37-game season for the Yeomen.

The Canton, Ohio, product led the Yeomen in doubles (13), slugging (.602), RBI (31) and total bases (80). Moreover, he put together a school-record 19-game hitting steak, had 21 multi-hit games and nine multi-RBI performances.

Brua, whose work on the mound played a large part in Oberlin setting the school's wins record (18), established a new school record for saves in a season (6) and tied the Oberlin mark for wins with a record of 6-3. His 2.78 ERA was third best in the league, while his opposition batting average of .227 tied for tops in the NCAC.

The sidearm specialist from Avon, Ohio recorded 8.18 strikeouts per nine innings. He totaled a team-high 55 innings, while making a school-record 22 appearances and racking up 50 punchouts along the way.

The pair of rising-seniors hope to lead the Yeomen into their first-ever NCAC Tournament next spring.
