Oberlin, Ohio – Oberlin College Head Men's Lacrosse Coach Kevin Walz has resigned from his position to pursue other opportunities outside of coaching. He will officially remain on staff until July 30.
"I have really enjoyed working with Coach Walz the past several years,” Delta Lodge Director of Athletics Joe Karlgaard said. “He's been a great ambassador for the program, and he leaves our roster well-stocked with talent. I will miss working with him, but I am certain he will be successful in his next position."
Walz, who earned the Jim “Ace” Adams Sportsmanship Award from the NCAA Lacrosse Officials Association in 2008, has served as head coach for the past six seasons. Before being promoted to the helm of the program in 2005, he worked as the assistant coach for two seasons.
“It has been a pleasure to be a part of this program for the last eight seasons,” Walz said. “We have had our ups-and-downs during that time, but I strongly believe the program is in the best shape it has been over the last 15 years. I greatly appreciate all of the support I have received from the alumni, staff, players and fellow coaches.”
This past season Walz guided the Yeomen to a 5-8 record and mentored three players to All-NCAC honors.
A national search for his successor will begin immediately.
