Oberlin, Ohio – Two big innings by the visiting Hiram College Terriers loomed large as the Oberlin College softball team was defeated 6-0 and 13-2 on Wednesday afternoon.

First-year Brittany Dawson continued her impressive week as she finished 3-for-6 with an RBI.

In the lid-lifter the Terriers used a four-run third inning to gain control of the game. Other than that Megan Widmer pitched a sound game. However, her counterpart Whitney Dropsey was simply dominant as she fanned nine Yeowomen and scattered four hits along the way.

Lauren Luther, Julia Chauvin Sophie Schacht joined Dawson as those with hits in the game.

In game two, the Terriers jumped out to an early 3-0 lead until Dawson came through with a two-out RBI single to right field that plated Kristine Kuchta, who reached on a single.

Unfortunately, Hiram would bounce back in a big way – using seven hits and three Oberlin errors to score 10 runs in the fourth inning.

Oberlin would add its second tally of the game in the bottom of the fourth on an infield single by Schacht.

The Yeowomen will conclude their season on Saturday afternoon with a doubleheader against Kenyon College. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
