Golf Finishes Second Tournament of the Season

Springfield, Ohio – The Oberlin College golf team completed its second tournament of the season, finishing ninth at the Wittenberg Invite with 770 total strokes over two rounds of play.

For the second week in a row, rookie Andrew DeCarlo was the top Oberlin finisher. This time, however, teammate Jake Panka matched his score of 185. DeCarlo turned in a season-low round of 87 on Saturday, but followed with a 98 today. Panka took a more consistent route to his total with rounds of 94 and 91. The tandem tied for 49th overall.

Ron Rupard shaved off six strokes of his round one total of 101 as he needed just 95 swings to get through the par-72, 6,684-yard course on Sunday.

Matt Richard completed the Yeomen line-up with back-to-back rounds of 102.

The host Tigers won the event by carding in a team total of 592 (307-285). Wittenberg's Jordan Millice was the medalist with a two-round total of 142 (74-68).

Oberlin returns to action next week at the Wooster Invite.
