Wooster, Ohio – The Oberlin College men's lacrosse team pushed The College of Wooster to the brink, but the home Scots were able to outlast the Yeomen 12-7 on Wednesday evening.

“This was one of the best team games we have ever played,” Head Coach Kevin Walz said. “I am proud of the guys for the way they played and fought tonight.”

Oberlin (2-7, 0-4 NCAC) jumped out to an early 3-0 lead on back-to-back goals by Erik Strand and a third tally by Dylan Holmes. The Scots would claw their way back and eventually lead 6-5 at the break.

Strand would cash in his team-leading third goal of the game just before the third quarter horn would sound to make it a 9-7 Scots' advantage heading into the final frame.

Two early Wooster scores in the period forced the Yeomen to push up and pull their goalie as they continued to fight for possession. Unfortunately, multiple attempts at the cage hit off of the post or flew just wide.

“They did a good job of playing keep away down the stretch,” Walz added. “However, we put the pressure on them and shown we have come a long way in the last few years.”

Thomas Hake, Connor Jackson and Alex Jacobs each added a goal for the Yeomen in the loss.

Oberlin returns home to host Albion College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
