Final Results
Granville, Ohio – The Oberlin College men's tennis squad, short handed on the night, fell to Denison University 9-0 in a match up of North Coast Athletic Conference teams from opposites sides of the East-West split.
Denison, the Central Regions 9th ranked team, rushed out to a 3-0 lead following doubles action. However,
Ben Turchin and
Joe Leffler, OC's top pairing tonight wouldn't go down without a fight making Nate Hobrath and Matt McErlean work hard to earn an 8-6 win.
The Oberlin roster was minus a few of the season's staples due to illness resulting in a forfeiture of the third doubles match and the No. 6 singles slot.
Turchin played in the top singles spot for only the second time this season when he faced off against Denison's Tom Cawood. Cawood is currently ranked 23rd in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Central Region poll. Cawood topped Turchin in straight sets 6-1, 6-0.
Sam Towne continues to hang tough in his usual No. 4 singles spot but was unable to get past Adam Seely falling 6-4, 6-2.
Oberlin (3-18, 0-1 NCAC) will be back in action Saturday, April 17 when they entertain nationally ranked Kenyon College in a match scheduled for a 4 p.m. start at Don Hunsinger Courts.
