Orlando, Florida – The Oberlin College men's tennis team concluded their spring break action this morning with a loss to the University of St. Thomas. The Tommies bested the Yeomen 9-0.

Oberlin found it tough going from the start of this match. St. Thomas (10-1) would race to a 3-0 lead following a sweep of doubles action. No Oberlin pairing could muster more than three games from the Tommies.

“St. Thomas is a solid team, probably the best competition we faced in Orlando other than Div. I Stetson. We didn't bounce back as well as I thought we would after a day off but playing back-to-back doubleheaders really took its toll on us,” noted head coach Adam Shoemaker.

In singles action OC's No. 2 Ben Turchin was in a tight contest with Brendan O'Connell during the first set, however, Turchin would drop set 7-5. The St. Thomas netter had all the play in the second set earning a 6-1 win.

Sam Towne and Sergio Sanchez were the only other Yeomen to really challenge a Tommie in their matches, they too would drop straight set matches in the No. 4 and 6 spots, 6-4, 6-2 and 6-4, 6-1 respectively.

Oberlin (3-13) will return to Ohio and begin North Coast Athletic Conference play April 6th when they travel to The College of Wooster for a 4:30 p.m. match.
