Savannah, Ga. – The Oberlin College men's lacrosse team controlled the run of play throughout the game and took more shots, but unfortunately that didn't equal a win as they dropped a 10-9 decision to Savannah College Art & Design on Wednesday evening.
Oberlin (2-3) fired off 43 shots, while the Bees triggered just 33 attempts, but the Yeomen were stoned by SCAD's backup goalie Wade Winebrenner who made 16 saves over the final two and half quarters.
After falling behind 3-1 in the first period, the Yeomen came roaring back to take a 6-4 lead at the half, which prompted the cage switch by the Bees.
Through all that the Yeomen found themselves down by just one with 1:30 left to play and on a man-up situation, but could not find the back of the cage to extend the game.
Oberlin, which had seven different players score on the night, was led by three goals from senior
Alex Chapman.
The Yeomen will look to get back on track on Easter Sunday when they battle Guilford College. The opening face-off is set for 1 p.m.
