Orlando, Florida – Wet weather postponed the Oberlin College men's tennis match yesterday and pushed today's morning match versus St. Mary's University (MN) back a few hours. When the sunshine emerged and the courts dried out the Yeomen would square off against the Cardinals before traveling to NCAA Division I Stetson for an evening match.

Oberlin's No. 2 and 4 hitters, Ben Turchin and Eliot Heaton, each turned in solid singles performances versus St. Mary's. Turchin returned to the singles lineup for the first time since early March and was able to down Pawel Szczepkowski in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1.

Heaton picked up his fourth win of the season when he defeated Jack Schway. A strong first set win propelled him into the second set where he used an 8-6 tiebreak win to take the match in straight sets, 6-4, 7-6 (8-6)

In doubles action the Yeomen duo of Sam Towne and Joe Leffler earned their second win of their last three matches together in the third spot today. They defeated Schway and Steve Mino 9-7

The Yeomen encountered the 70th ranked team in Division I tonight when they visited Stetson University in their nightcap match. The Hatters blanked the Yeomen 7-0. Stetson improved to 18-3 on the season with the win over Oberlin.

“This was obviously a tough match for our guys but it was a great experience to play against some really talented tennis players,” head coach Adam Shoemaker said following the match.

Oberlin will be back in action tomorrow, March 30th, when they match up against Hamline University; first serve is set for 10 a.m. The Yeomen's postponed match from Sunday afternoon against Cornell College (IA) is now scheduled for 4 p.m. Tuesday.
