Sewanee, Tenn. –
The Oberlin College men's lacrosse team was outlasted by Sewanee University 16-14 on Saturday afternoon in Sewanee, Tennessee.

After sluggish first period that resulted in Oberlin being down 6-2, the Yeomen settled down to get themselves within striking distance in the fourth quarter with a flurry of five goals over the final 10 minutes of play.

"We didn't play a good team game today," Head Coach Kevin Walz said. "I was glad to see that we didn't give up at the end, but we need to clean some things up in order to get the results we are looking for."

Rookies Thomas Hake and Connor Jackson led the offensive attack with three goals each, while classmate Daniel Fineman dished out two assists.

Oberlin trailed 10-6 at the half, but Sewanee would increase its cushion to 16-9 which allowed them hold off the late Yeomen scoring barrage.

The Tigers out-shot the Yeomen 43-33 and also won the groundball war 48-39. Oberlin was also hindered by a season-low clears percentage of 55-percent (11-of-20).

Oberlin (2-2) returns to action on Wednesday night at Savannah College of Art & Design. The opening face-off is set for 7 p.m.
