Battling Bishops Too Much for Yeomen

Ben Godlove earns sixth win of the season to remain unbeaten
Final Results

Delaware, Ohio
– The Battling Bishops of Ohio Wesleyan University proved to be too much for the Oberlin College men's tennis squad to handle this afternoon, defeating the Yeomen 8-1.

Although today's match was against a North Coast Athletic Conference foe the loss does not register in the Yeomen's conference win/loss column as the two teams fall on opposite sides of the East/West NCAC divide. OC drops to 2-4 on the year and remains 0-1 in conference action.

Senior Ben Godlove continues to shine at No. 1 singles. He is a perfect 6-0 thus far and today defeated Kevin Kahn 6-3, 6-4.

Sam Towne moving up in the line to the No. 3 spot found himself in a hard fought match against OWU's Will Thieman. Thieman would prevail but not before Towne provided some excitement in the second set losing in a 7-4 tiebreak.

“Today's match was a tough one, we dropped all three doubles matches and couldn't overcome the deficit. Ben continues to play well and I thought Sam battled well at No. 3,” commented head coach Adam Shoemaker.

Oberlin travels to Mount Union College Wednesday, March 3rd for a non-conference match up, the two teams are slated to take to the court at 6 p.m.
