Women’s Basketball Falls at Kenyon

Cold first-half shooting hindered the Oberlin College women's basketball team as it dropped its regular season finale at Kenyon College 62-48 on Saturday afternoon.

The Yeowomen outscored the Ladies 33-27 in the second session, but it the first half they made just 5-of-24 (20.8%) shots and trailed 35-15 at the break.

Oberlin (5-20, 4-12 NCAC) had a diverse scoring attack as Allison Anderson and Syrea Thomas each scored 12 points on the day – all which came in the second half. Freshman Kelly Warlich registered her fourth double-double of the season with 11 points while tying a career-high with 12 rebounds. Senior Kayla Brandt also added nine points in the setback.

Kenyon (16-9. 9-7 NCAC) shot 41.8-percent (23-of-56), while Oberlin checked in at 31.5-percent (17-of-54).

The Ladies, who had 16 different players check into the game, had a 24-10 edge in points in the paint and scored 21 points off of 20 Oberlin miscues.

The Yeowomen clinched the No. 7 in the NCAC Tournament and will travel to the No. 2 seed Ohio Weselyan University Battling Bishops on Tuesday night. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
