Box Score

Oberlin, Ohio –
The triple-threat of Kelly Warlich, Allison Anderson and Syrea Thomas combined to score to 47 points to lead the Oberlin College women's basketball team past Hiram College 57-45 on Saturday afternoon.

Warlich, a native of New Canaan, Connecticut, led the way with 18 points and was 4-of-6 from beyond the arc. Anderson finished with 16 points – 12 of which came in the second half. Thomas added 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting to go along with eight rebounds.

Oberlin (5-18, 4-10 NCAC) trailed for nearly the entire first half until Anderson's left-handed teardrop jumper in the lane gave the Yeowomen a 21-20 edge with 2:33 remaining in the half. However, when the first half horn sounded the score was tied at 25.

The Yeowomen's first lead of the second half didn't come till the 11:58 mark when Warlich gave her team a 32-31 cushion by connecting on one of her four triple-hits. In a game that featured five ties and five lead changes, little did anyone know that shot would put Oberlin on top for good.

Oberlin built its advantage up to 10, 46-36, with 5:34 left to play as Emily Chu Finkel threw a beautiful backdoor pass from the top of the key to a streaking Anderson who converted the layup.

Chu Finkel, a native of Oakland, California, and Kayla Brandt, a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, were honored before the game as part of the Senior Day festivities.

Oberlin also donned pink jerseys for the game in support of the WBCA Pink Zone initiative to support the Kay Yow Fund in the fight against breast cancer. The athletics department collected over 300 dollars in donations for the cause at the game.

The Yeowomen will conclude the regular season with a pair of road contests next week. First they will travel to Denison University of a 7 p.m. tilt on Wednesday night and then end the season next Saturday at Kenyon.
