Crawfordsville, Ind. –
Oberlin College was out rebounded 36-28 – including 17-6 on the offensive end as it fell to Wabash College 59-47 in NCAC men's basketball action on Saturday afternoon.

The Little Giants 17 offensive rebounds translated into 17 points and a 12-point win for the home team.

“They are a physical team and give them credit for battling underneath, but we just have to do a better job of checking our man and playing with purpose,” Head Coach Isaiah Cavaco said.

Freshman Andrew Fox was the lone Yeoman in double figures as he finished 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting.

For the second straight game Oberlin (6-17, 2-12 NCAC) jumped out to an early 6-0 lead. However, after a tightly contested first half, Wabash (15-7, 10-4 NCAC) would hold a slight 26-23 cushion at the break.

The Little Giants methodically built their advantage up to 14, 46-32, with just under nine minutes to play, but the Yeomen wouldn't go down without a fight as they used a 13-4 run to get within five, 50-45, with 1:13 left to play. Unfortunately, the Little Giants would secure the win by going 9-of-9 at the free throw line in the closing moments.

Wabash, which shot just 32.7-percent (17-of-52) from the floor, did most of its damage at the charity stripe where it went 19-of-28 (67.9%). Oberlin made 20 of its 43 attempts (46.5%) from the field, but converted just 5-of-11 free throws in the game.

Oberlin returns home to host Denison University on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. in a critical NCAC clash. It will also be Hawaiian Night so fans are encouraged to wear their Hawaiian attire and come out to support the Yeomen, as a spot in the NCAC Tournament will be on the line.
