Canton, Ohio –
The Oberlin College women's swimming team set two new relay records to highlight day two of the NCAC Championships.

The Yeowomen got the evening finals started in grand fashion with a school record-setting performance in the 200-yard medley relay. The foursome of Laura Fries, Grace Aheron, Sara Kadi and Shannon Gallagher completed the course in 1:52.32 to finish sixth overall.

Oberlin ended the meet the way it started – setting a new school record in a relay event – this one coming in the 800-yard free relay. It was Fries, Kate Melanson, Aheron, and Kadi who combined to record an NCAA 'B' cut time of 7:51.34 to finish third overall. The astonishing timestamp is nearly 10 seconds faster then the previous school record (8:01.09) that was set earlier this season.

Kadi added another change to the Oberlin record book by besting her own school record in the 100-yard butterfly with an NCAA 'B' cut mark of 57.65 to finish fifth overall.

Aheron added a fourth-place finish the 400-yard IM with an NCAA 'B' cut time of 4:34.68.

In the prelims of the 100-yard back, Fries recorded a lifetime-best swim of 1:00.31, which is second fastest all-time. Her finals mark of 1:00.34 was good for ninth overall.

Heading into tomorrow's final, the Yeowomen are just one point back of Allegheny as they have 472 points and sit in sixth place by the slimmest of margins.

Headlining the men's effort was sophomore Jebran Haddad as he recorded a new Oberlin record in the 100-yard breast by tapping in at 59.41.

Second-year stalwart Nick Lashaway used a strong finish over the final 12 yards to chase down Chris Steinwarz of Allegheny – out-touching him by nearly a full second with a lifetime-best mark of 4:14.51 to win the 'B' final.

Jon Vimr recorded a lifetime-best of 1:44.40 in the prelims of the 200-yard free and checked in at 1:44.64 in the finals to finish in ninth place.

The men's 200-yard medley relay consisting of Lashway, Haddad, Bud Stracker, and Chris Canning posted a season-best time of 1:37.11 to finish in sixth place.

The Yeomen rest in seventh place with 307 points.

The third and final day of the championships will get underway tomorrow morning at 10 a.m.
