Oberlin, Ohio – This weekend the Oberlin College women's basketball team will tip-off its 2010-11 season under the tutelage of third-year Head Coach

A season ago they hoisted a school-record 644 three-point attempts, while cashing in a school-best 186 of those triple-tries. Despite finishing just 5-21 last year, Oberlin was highly competitive in most of its games and should be even more improved this season.
Here is in-depth look at the 2010-11 team by position …
Point Guard …
Sophomore
Allison Anderson returns as arguably the best point guard in the NCAC … As a freshman she was simply dominant averaging 13.8 points, 4.7 rebounds, 5.6 assists, and 3.1 steals per contest, while also leading the NCAC in minutes played (1,004 /38.6 per contest) … The 2009-10 NCAC Newcomer of the Year and All-NCAC Second-Team selection also set the single season assists record with 146 helpers.
Guard …

Syrea Thomas partners with Anderson in the backcourt, giving Oberlin one of the most prolific scoring tandems in the league … Thomas, who was an All-NCAC honorable-mention selection last year, led the team in scoring with 14 points per game … The Cleveland, Ohio, native is also one of the best rebounding guards in the league, taking down 6.7 boards per game.
Senior co-captain
Christina Spencer, who was limited to just 13 games last season due to injury, provides much needed experience in the backcourt.
First-year
Malisa Hoak, who was an Northwest District Honorable-Mention selection last season Toledo Whitmer High School, also has the skills to contribute right away.
Forward …
Sophomore
Kelly Warlich joins Anderson and Thomas to complete Oberlin's version of the “Big Three” … One of the most versatile players in the conference, she can score from anywhere on the floor … She scored in double-figures 16 times, finishing with an average of 12 points per game as a freshman … The New Cannan, Connecticut, native is also the top returning rebounder – taking down 6.9 boards per game a season ago.
Joining Warlich on the frontline attack is the state of Vermont's Gatorade Player of the Year

Fellow rookie
Ashley Young is another viable scoring threat for the Yeowomen … The Columbus, Ohio, product was a third-team all-district selection last season after netting 14 points per game at Africentric High School.
The scoring continues for this impressive first-year class as San Francisco, California, native
Lillian Jahan makes the trek to the east coast to be a part of this potent Yeowomen squad … As a senior at International High School, she poured in 17.3 points per game.
Center
Sophomore
Ellen Neumann will control the middle for the Yeowomen … Playing behind senior
Emily Chu Finkel, Neumann continued to get better as the season wore on … She finished the year with an average of 3.1 points and 2.7 rebounds per game … However, expect those numbers to go up this season as she will be heavily relied on to control the glass.
