Oberlin, Ohio – For the third straight season senior Joanna Johnson won the Inter-Regional Rumble en route to leading the Oberlin College women's cross country team to a sixth-place finish with a 180 points in the 24-team event.

Johnson completed the 6K journey through the Oberlin Woodchip Trail in 21:17.1, topping second-place finisher Natalia Cabrera of Case Western Reserve by 35.2 seconds.

Sophomore Sara Terashima was the second Yeowoman to come through the chute, checking in at 23:07.8 to finish in 33rd place. Junior Nina Cole followed in seven seconds back at 23:14.7 – good for 39th overall in the 216-runner field.

Second-year harrier Caroline Martin posted a mark of 23:22.5, finishing 10 spots back of Cole in 49th. Classmate # Kristina Witcher# rounded out the top-five OC placers, ending in 58th place at 23:32.
“Joanna obviously did her thing and ran a great race,” Head Coach Ray Appenheimer said. “However, we were setback a little without Molly (Martorella) and will need to run even a better race at conference in two weeks.”

Case Western Reserve won the event with 83 points as all five of its placers finished within the top 30.

The Yeowomen will look to defend its NCAC Championship in two weeks at Wabash College.
