Oberlin, Ohio –
Oberlin College had three players score in double figures, but it wasn't enough as the Wabash College Little Giants upended the Yeomen 77-55 on Saturday afternoon at Philips Gym.

Junior James Tompsett scored a career-high 16 points and added eight boards in the loss. Sophomore Josh Merritt led the team with 18 points on 5-of-10 shooting and freshman Andrew Fox also contributed 16 points in the game.

Oberlin (4-13, 0-8 NCAC) trailed 43-32 at the half and was down by as many 16 points before making a late charge to get back into the game. After being down 52-36 with 13:41 remaining, the Yeomen ripped off a 14-5 run over the next four minutes to get within seven, 57-50, with 7:45 left on the clock. Unfortunately back-to-back triple-hits by Andrew Gilman and Chase Haltom extended the Little Giants lead back into double digits where it would stay the rest of the way.

“I was glad to see we didn't give up and were able to battle back to make a game of it there,” Head Coach Isaiah Cavaco said. “With guys out now we just need to work on getting better for the long haul.”

The Little Giants (11-5, 6-2 NCAC) shot an impressive 51.8-percent (29-of-56) from the floor, while the Yeomen checked in at 43.8-percent (21-of-48).

NCAC scoring leader Wes Smith spearheaded the Wabash attack with 28 points and 10 rebounds as his efforts helped keep the Little Giants unbeaten in 2010 while extending their winning streak to seven in a row.

Oberlin returns to action on Wednesday night at Allegheny College. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m.
