Oberlin, Ohio
– The Oberlin College women's soccer team scored twice within a minute and a half en route to upending the visiting Bluffton Beavers 2-1 on Tuesday night at Fred Shults Field.

After multiple scoring opportunities went awry for the Yeowomen throughout the first half and early into the second period, Oberlin final broke through in the 62nd minute as Lois Immerman headed in a perfect corner kick service from Ryan McChesney to tie the game at one. However, it wouldn't be long before OC claimed the lead for good as Lori Sako cashed in her team-leading seventh goal of the season with an assist coming from Kelsey Watts-Fitzgerald.

“I was glad we were able to finally put some goals up on the board,” Head Coach Kristen Hayden said. “We had so many chances with some shots going off the post and crossbar it was nice to see us finish some balls off to earn a win here tonight.”

The Yeowomen really dominated the game from start to finish, evident by a 29-9 shot advantage – including an 11-4 edge on shots on goal. Oberlin also initiated eight corner kicks compared to just two for the Beavers.

Bluffton got on the board first just over 14 minutes into the game when Kat Wisby rifled in a shot from about 25 yards out into the top left post. However, that was the lone legitimate scoring opportunity for the Beavers in the first half.

In the second period both teams had goals waived off due to offside calls. All in all the Yeowomen got caught offside six times on the night, while Bluffton got whistled three times for the infraction.

Oberlin begins conference play on Saturday afternoon at Earlham College. The opening touch is set for high noon.
