Oberlin, Ohio – The Oberlin College women's soccer team dominated from start to finish as they cruised to a 4-0 victory over visiting Franklin College on Sunday afternoon at Fred Shults Field.
The Yeowomen fired off a season-high 32 shots- including 18 on goal , while limiting the Grizzlies to just one shot in the match.
“I was glad to see we were able to control the tempo and pace of the game,” Head Coach Kristen Hayden said. “We did a lot of things well, but still missed a few scoring opportunities that I would have like to see us finish off.”
Sophomore sensation
Lori Sako continued her amazing week of play as she scored two times and now has six goals over her last three games.
After a Sako goal, junior
Veronica Fusco would add her second goal of the season and second Yeowomen tally in the first half with an assist coming from Kelsey Watts-Fitzgerald.
Sako, whose first goal was assisted by
Amelia Jarvinen, would add her second score of the match in the 50th minute and Jarvinen would record her first goal of the year in the 81st minute as she beat the keeper in a one-on-one situation. Rookie
Hannah Combe was credited with the assist on the play.
The Yeowomen, who had a 12-0 advantage on corner kicks, return to the pitch on Wednesday night when Heidelberg College comes to town for a 7 p.m. tilt.
