Oberlin, Ohio - Joshua Brancazio's goal in the 51st minute proved to be the difference as the Oberlin College men's soccer team held on for a 1-0 victory over Muskingum College on Saturday night at Fred Shults Field.

“We played much better than the other night against B-W,” Head Coach Blake New said. “We did a better job of controlling the tempo of the game and also got great support tonight from our home fans.”

Brancazio's first tally of the year came off a beautiful service from Drew Williamson as the ball split right down the middle of the defense to a streaking Brancazio who finished the shot in the lower right corner of the goal.

After a tightly contested first half, Oberlin was able to get in rhythm and do a better job of possessing the ball, leading to 10 shots over the final 45 minutes. All in all the Yeomen triggered 18 shots on the night compared to just 10 for the Muskies.

In the closing moments of the match, the Muskies tried to even things up, but a stingy Oberlin defense led by Wyatt Hayman would short circuit any real threat.

Zach Lipshultz earned his fourth shutout the season as he made three saves over 90 minutes of action.

Oberlin returns to the pitch on Tuesday night as it travels cross town to take on Case Western Reserve. The opening touch is set for 7:30 p.m.
