New Orleans, La. – The Oberlin College men's and women's track and field teams were named as U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Scholar teams, while
Nicky Ouellet and
Joanna Johnson were named as USTFCCCA All-Academic selections, the organization announced this week.
Johnson and Ouellet claimed the individual accolades by recording a minimum GPA of 3.300 and qualifying for the NCAA Championships. Johnson, who enters her junior year this fall, earned NCAA All-America status in both cross country and outdoor track this past season. Ouellet, a recent graduate and 2008-09 Female Athlete of the Year, went to nationals in cross country in addition too both the indoor and outdoor championships.
In a season that featured their first NCAC Indoor Championship, the Yeowomen turned in an impressive 3.310 team GPA, while the Yeomen compiled a 3.170 GPA.
To be eligible for the USTFCCCA Scholar Team Award, a team must have minimum cumulative GPA of 3.100.
