Tiffin, Ohio –
For the second year in a row, the Oberlin College softball team ended its season with a sweep – this time defeating Heidelberg College by the scores of 7-3 and 5-3 on Sunday afternoon.

In the lid-lifter, the Yeowomen pounded out a season-high 14 hits as five different players had multiple hits in the game. Leadoff hitter Kristine Kuchta led the way with a 3-for-4 effort, which included a double and a home run to go along with two runs scored.

Oberlin scored in the first on an RBI single by freshman Sara Gaines and added two more in the third on Kuchta's long ball and an RBI groundout by Lauren Luther.

The Student Princess got a single tally in the third and the two teams traded runs in the fourth to make it 4-2. However, Oberlin got a two-run double from Kristen Dix in the sixth and a run-scoring single from Ruth Allanbrook in the seventh to secure the win.

Junior Jen Sees recorded the win as she scattered 10 hits and four walks to go along with four strikeouts in seven innings of work.

In the nightcap, it was Julia Chauvin who stole the show for Oberlin as she belted three doubles – including a two-run two-bagger in a five-run seventh for the Yeowomen.

Oberlin trailed 2-0 going into its final at-bat, but scored four runs with two outs to steal the win. Gaines preceded Chauvin with the first two-RBI double of the inning and Oberlin's first run came on a Heidelberg error.

Michelle Zanni worked all seven innings to finish her senior season with five wins.

Oberlin's eight-win total is a school record for a program that just finished its ninth season of play.
