Day One of NCAC Tennis Tournament Completed

The Yeomen tennis team competed in the NCAC Tournament today and finish up the season tomorrow

– The Oberlin College men's tennis team completed the first day of competition in the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament 0-2, suffering a 5-0 setback to Denison University and falling 5-0 to the College of Wooster.

In the Quarterfinal match-up against the #23 ranked team in the country Oberlin struggled to find their groove. At No. 2 doubles Peder Davis and Elliot Heaton would get the closets falling 8-4. Denison would take a 3-0 lead following a doubles sweep and then finished the match with wins at No. 2 and 3 singles. All NCAC Tournament matches are played to decision.

The Yeomen matched up against the College of Wooster in their afternoon consolation match. OC challenged early in doubles action and looked like they may have found their stride. However, the close matches would go to the Scots.

In the No. 1 spot Ben Godlove and Joe Leffler dropped a heartbreaker, 9-8. Davis and Heaton paired again in the second slot and lost 9-7 to the Wooster pairing.

The Fighting Scots would sweep doubles and then clinch the match with victories at No. 5 and 6 in singles play.

Oberlin (0-21) will look to rebound and regroup as they will face Allegheny College in a 9 a.m. match to finish out their season playing for 7th and 8th place.
