Oberlin, Ohio - Today the Oberlin College Yeowomen celebrated their seniors
Dana Rich and
Grace Eginton before getting ready to face off against the Wittenberg Tigers. Rich and Eginton are co-captains of the squad and have been contributors to the team for four years, earning various awards along the way. However, despite their best efforts Oberlin fell to Wittenberg 20-8.
The Yeowomen were not able to hold off the Tigers' offense in the first half, allowing them to score 14 goals. Rich tried to bounce back scoring three of her four goals in the first half.
During the second half Oberlin picked up the pace and were able to keep the Wittenberg offense tat bay as they only netted six goals with the help of Eginton on defense. Oberlin was able to score four more goals in the second half, but it was too little too late.
Oberlin was out-shot by Wittenberg 34-24 and lost the ground ball battle 21-15, but the Yeowomen were able to win the draw controls 18-12. Freshman goal keeper
Emily Perry had nine saves on the day.
The Yeowomen will be playing Claremont Mudd Scripps tomorrow morning at 11am.
