Oberlin, Ohio – One day after earning a split against Albion College, the Oberlin College softball team welcomed NCAC leading Denison to town, but the Big Red proved too be too tough for the Yeowomen as they took both ends of the doubleheader by a score of 12-0.
First-year catcher
Sara Gaines led the Oberlin offense with three hits on the day, but the Denison pitching staff kept the rest of the Yeowomen bats in-check all afternoon long.
In game one, the Big Red scored early and often with three runs in the first, before adding four in each of the second and third innings.
In the nightcap,
Jen Sees had Denison off-balance early on, but it finally broke through with two runs in the fourth. After a scoreless fifth, the victors added another pair in the sixth and put the game out of reach with an eight-run seventh.
Oberlin will try to bounce back on Wednesday when it travels to Hiram College for an NCAC doubleheader.
