Oberlin, Ohio – The Oberlin College tennis teams will be hosting two one-day showdown events for both men and women. The women's event will take place on December 5, while the men's event will be on December 6.
For the women's event, singles play will begin at 9 a.m. with doubles action slated to start at approximately 1 p.m. On Sunday at the men's event, doubles play will start at 9 a.m. with singles played scheduled to begin at noon.
"These open events are a great way to bring our extended tennis community together to have some low-key tennis competition at our beautiful facilities,” Head Women's Tennis Coach
Constantine Ananiadis said. “In addition, we're also able to raise some funds for our program. We're grateful to the ITA & USTA for giving us the opportunity to host a men's and a women's event this year and we look forward to have them back for many years to come."
The one-set tournament is open to all players of any age and skill level. Both tournaments are non-sanctioned, meaning it doesn't count for any rankings and you are not required to be a current USTA or ITA member.
The format is round-robin style with no elimination. Entrants can play up to three different sets/matches for singles and doubles. Set tie breaks will be played at 5-5 for all matches.
The entry fee is just $10 dollars for singles play and five dollar per person for doubles. To register for either event, please contact Head Women's Tennis Coach
