Coming off one of the more successful seasons in baseball history, Oberlin College head coach
Eric Lahetta and the Yeomen baseball team is back at the grind to prepare for the 2010 season. Based on NCAA Division III rules, the team is allowed 15 practices and one day of competition during the non-traditional fall ball season.
With the team back together and a mission set on achieving a first ever playoff appearance, Yeomen baseball has taken the field for fall practice. Among the ten returning team veterans, seven new faces can be seen on the diamond at Dill Field. Key returning players include senior captains
Jack Dunn (LHP/1B) and
Zach Berman (OF) as well as
Phil Brua (RHP/C),
Brandon Cantrill (C/RHP),
Ryan Mouch (INF/C),
Ben Kauder (OF), and
Jason James (RHP/SS). Zach Barness (OF), Greg D'Agincourt (RHP/INF),
Matt Fish (INF),
Zach Jaspers (OF),
Eric Knight (RHP/INF),
Nick Miller (RHP) and
Jake Streich-Kest (C/3B) begin their Yeomen careers this fall.
Come spring,
Drew Mixter (LHP),
Robin Witjes (OF) and
Andy Eger (RHP) will join the team after competing with the football team this fall. The Yeomen also have numerous players who are studying abroad from destinations all over the world including the Dominican Republic, Greece, England, and South Africa.
The Yeomen finished 2009 with a 15-25 overall record (5-11 NCAC).
