Westerville, Ohio - The Oberlin men's tennis team made short work of Otterbein College on Saturday afternoon as they topped the Cardinals 8-1.

“We played a great match today,” Head Coach Adam Shoemaker said. “Everyone was focused and did a good job of playing clean, smart tennis.”

Senior Ben Godlove had his way with Otterbein's Ryan Catanese in the No. 1 singles match-up, coming away with a straight set win 6-0, 6-4.

Freshman Ben Thurchin played at No. 2 and knocked off Tyler Brodhead 6-2, 6-3. Eliot Heaton won at No. 4 6-1, 6-2 over Ryan Roberts and Peter Meckel followed in the No. 5 position with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Brian Pollock.

Sophomore Sam Towne completed the pack of Oberlin winners with a 4-6, 6-1, 10-4 win over Jon Smith at No. 6 singles.

Oberlin also went unblemished in doubles play as Joe Leffler partnered with Godlove to beat Cantanese and Broadhead 8-3.

Heaton and Meckel also won by an 8-3 count over Steven Albert and Jason Wagner.
