Richmond, Ind. –
Despite an edge in shots and corner kicks, the Oberlin College men's soccer team was unable to get by the host Earlham College Quakers on Saturday afternoon as the Yeomen were upended 1-0.

“I felt we were out of rhythm for most of the match,” Head Coach Blake New said. “We need to find a way to play more consistent on the road, especially against teams in our conference.”

The Yeomen did trigger 17 shots with 11 on goal, while Earlham had just 10 attempts with five shots on goal. However, it was the one shot on goal that got through that proved to be the difference.

Bannet Asingura gave Earlham the win with his ninth goal of the season just 16 minutes into the match.

Skyler Dum led OC with seven shots, while Dan Jaffe and David Lowe added two each.

Zach Lipshultz made four saves over 90 minutes of work, but Earlham keeper Jonah Kreniske turned away 11 Oberlin shots.

The Yeomen also had a 5-0 advantage on corner kicks.

Oberlin returns to action next Saturday when it host Wittenberg University at 7:30 p.m. at Fred Shults Field. The match will conclude an action packed day as part of Homecoming Weekend.
