Gambier, Ohio –
The Oberlin College swimming and diving teams began the season on Saturday at the annual NCAC Relay Meet on the campus of Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio.

“We swam really well, especially for it being the first meet of the season,” Head Coach Mark Fino said. “Both teams had a lot of positive swims and I was very pleased with what I saw. We still have to continue to work and get better each day.”

The highlight of the day for the Yeowomen came in the 200 freestyle relay as the foursome of Shannon Gallagher, Danica Watson, Grace Aheron and Sara Kadi combined to complete the course in 1:42.57, which ranks third-best all-time in the OC record book.

Sophomores Mike Sabatka and Kate Melanson also had a great start to their second season in the crimson and gold with many strong swims on the afternoon.

All in all, the Yeowomen finished in sixth place with 82 points. The Yeomen ended seventh with 52 points.

Oberlin returns to action next Saturday when it travels to Granville, Ohio for a dual meet against perennial national power Denison University.
