Box Score

Oberlin, Ohio - The Oberlin College Yeowomen came up just short against the Kenyon College Ladies on Saturday. The Yeowomen and Ladies battled to a scoreless tie before Nora Erickson netted the only goal of the game in the 108th minute of the game to give the Ladies the 1-0 win.

After 100 minutes of scoreless soccer, things looked to be very evenly matched, as both teams had plenty of chances to score but were turned away by both goaltenders. Coming into the second overtime, Kenyon applied plenty of pressure as senior Sarah Grabinski, who got the start in goal for the Yeowomen, made three of her nine saves in the first minute of the second overtime. In the 108th minute, Erickson ripped a shot from outside the 16-yard box that got just past the outstretched arms of Grabinski.

The Yeowomen's best scoring chance came in 70th minute when Kenyon goaltender Kat Powers left her line to try and beat Amelia Jarvinen to the ball outside the 16-yard box. Jarvinen beat Powers and tried to put the ball in the back of the net, but was turned away as one of the Ladies defenders knocked the ball out of bounds away from the goal.

The game was very physical as both teams combined for 27 fouls. Both teams recorded 19 shots, however ten of those were on goal for the Ladies, compared to only four for the Yeowomen. Kenyon also had an edge in corners registering nine to Oberlin's three.

The Yeowomen, whose record now stands at 4-7-2 and 0-3-0 in the NCAC, return to action at home on Tuesday night.
