Joanna Johnson was named as the North Coast Athletic Conference Middle Distance Runner of the Week, while senior teammate
Ali Gemma was tabbed as the NCAC Sprints Runner of the Week, the league office announced on Sunday evening.
Johnson, a sophomore from Chico, California, won the women’s 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:31.73 at the Baldwin-Wallace Mid-January Invite over the weekend.
Johnson, who went undefeated in the regular season against Division III foes during the cross country season, has carried her success over into the early portion of the indoor track campaign.
The distance extraordinaire has now been named NCAC Runner of the Week seven times in her career between cross country and indoor and outdoor track.
Gemma, won the 200 meters with a time of 28.32 seconds, was fourth in the 55 meters in 7.55 seconds and was part of the second-place 4x200-meter relay (1:51) and the first-place 4x400-meter relay (4:14.36).
