Live Stats For Macalester Tournament
November 19 – First-year head coach
Kerry Jenkins announced his team captains for the 2008-09 season on Wednesday – naming seniors
Alyssa Clark,
Kira Rivera and junior
Emily Chu Finkel to the prestigious post.
“These three young women display the character, desire and determination we want everyone on our team to live by,” Jenkins said. “Their leadership was evident throughout practice this fall, and I am looking forward to them guiding us in a positive direction this season.”
Clark returns as one of the most prolific scorers in the NCAC and is the team’s top returning point producer at 10.6 points per game. She also finished fourth in the league in rebounding (7.4 rpg) and free throw percentage (74.8 %) last season. This season she will look to build upon her 1,045 career points.
Rivera’s return to the Yeowomen helps solidify a potent Oberlin backcourt and provides another legitimate scoring threat. During the 2006-07 campaign she started all 26 games and finished second on the squad with 47 steals.
Chu Finkel hopes to take her game to the next level this season and be a force inside the painted area. As a sophomore she saw action in 25 of the team’s 26 games.
The Yeowomen begin their season this weekend at the Macalester College Tournament. Oberlin will first take on Whitman College at 5 p.m. EST (4 p.m. CST) on Saturday. Sunday they will do battle against the host Scots at 3 p.m. EST (2 p.m. CST). Fans will be able to follow all of the action of both games via live statistics by
